The land of Russia varies a lot from heavy forests to barren deserts, from high peaked mountains to deep valleys. Due to large territory the climate and nature are of various types in Russia. Russia is the land on long rivers and deep lakes. The broad Volga River System is of great historic, economic and cultural importance to Russia. The largest lakes are Ladoga and Baikal. Baikal is the deepest lake in the world and its water is the purest on earth. The RF is rich in natural and mineral resources. It has deposits of oil, natural gas, coal, iron ore, gold, nickel and many others. The current population of Russia is more than 150 million people. Russia borders on 14 countries including the former Republics of the USSR. The head of the State is President. The Duma introduces, considers and adopts new bills.
London is an ancient city of more than twenty centuries old. Greater London has a population of about 9 million and an area of 620 square miles. The most important part of London are the City, the West End, the East End and Westminster. A very handy starting point for tours of London is Trafalgar Square. The square is a very popular place for meetings and demonstrations. Whitehall a broad, busy streets, runs from Trafalgar Square to the Palace of Westminster, better known as the Houses of Parliament. Near the Houses of Parliament is Westminster Abbey. Kings and queens are crowned, married and buried here. Further west from Parliament Square is Buckingham Palace, the residence of the Queen of England. Eastward is the city of London. It’s one of the most important financial and business centers in the world. If you visit the Tower you should not miss Tower Bridge – it is close by. It is one of the finest bridges spanning the Thames. The main traffic deck of the bridge is in two parts, hinged at the ends so that they can be raised to allow shipping to pass.
The UK of GB and Northern Ireland is a capitalist state. The total area of the UK is 94250 square miles. The population of GB is about 56 million. GV occupies the greater part of the British Isles, there two main islands, which include England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. GB has a very rich landscape. There are many rivers in Britain. The longest of English rivers is the Severn. GB has a generally mild climate. The mild and damp climate in the Britain Isles is very good for agriculture, sheep and cattle-farming. There are many big industrial centers in GB, such as Glasgow, Liverpool, Sheffield, Manchester and many others. London is capital which is situated on the river Thames, is one of the biggest commercial centers of the world. GB is one of the world leaders in such industries as coal mining, cotton and wool textiles, ship-building, machine tools and mechanical engineering. The UK of GB and Northern Ireland is a parliamentary monarchy. The Queen does not take part in politics. The Prime Minister is the leader of The Government and he chooses his ministers.
More than a thousand year ago our ancestors founded a city on one of the steep banks of the beautiful Desna River and named it Bryansk. The Bryansk land is a great manufacturing region of Russia and the heart of transport communication. The Bryansk land is famous for its cultural treasures. This land was source of inspiration for an ancient singer Boyne, poet Tutchev and writers Aleksey Tolstoy and Daniil Andreev. Bryansk Region is locates in the central part of the East-European plain. Bryansk region contains 34900 square km and has a population of nearly 1, 5 million people. The region consists of districts and has 16 cities. The center of the region is Bryansk city. The climate in Bryansk Region is temperate continental. Winter is relatively tender and snowy, summer is warm. There are 125 rivers in Bryansk region Desna being the longest of them. Bryansk region is rich in such mineral recourses peat, sand, clay and chalk. The official symbols of the Bryansk region are Flay, coat of arms and anthem. The anthem was the hymn of Bryansk partisan Movement during the Great Partisan War. The coat of arms of the Bryansk region symbolizes the unity of three great Slavonic nations.
Bryansk State Technical University was founded in December 1929. Faculties trained specialists on hot and cold working of metals and foundry, locomotive building, machine-tool, manufacture and etc. Within recently BSTU has become a technical university well known in the whole country. Now BSTU is a multiprofile technical higher school with a developed academic and laboratory basis. It has got four buildings, a computer and laboratory centre, a sport House, two student’s hostels. It trains bachelors and engineers in more than 30 specialties. Annually over 600 applicants are enrolled into the University. More than 300 highly qualified scientific and pedagogical worked take part in training future specialist. The activity of the scientific school being developed by BSTU is well known in the country and abroad. Over 150 postgraduate students and competitors on 15 scientific specialities study here. Unique technological and experimental equipment is used in the process of studies. The university scientific library is one of the largest technical libraries in the region. A new modern building it the University is under construction now.
Moscow is first mentioned in the annals of history of the year 1147. At that time it was a small frontier settlement. Since then its name has not left the pages of history. In the 13th centuries during the Tatar invasion Moscow was razed. After the war Moscow was rebuilt again and now it is one of the largest cities in the world. Moscow is the capital of Russia and one of the largest and most beautiful cities of the world. The heart of Moscow is Red Square. It has more historic associations than any other place in Moscow. The main Kremlin tower the Spasskaya Tower has become the symbol of the country. Moscow is a vital transportation centre and is often called the port of live seas. The capital has 9 railway station connected by the metro. Moscow is the centre of science and culture. Moscow University is the oldest in Russia. Moscow is the seat of all main bodies of the state and the government.
